04:29 pm no drug, not even alcohol, causes the fundamental ills of society. If we're looking for the source of our troubles, we shouldn't test people for drugs, we should test them for stupidity, ignorance, greed and love of power. P. J. O'Rourke

07:23 pm - spyware i'm getting an assload of pop-ups. my virus scanner(s) either can't keep up, or don't recognize the trojan.
it started yesterday, and i've gone through my computer with a fine tooth comb.
1) is anyone else having this problem? i'm starting to think livejournal is the culprit, and that makes me both sad and angry.
2) any suggestions? i'm running windows xp, with ad-aware 6.0 and the free version of avast. is there something else i should be using?
3) the pop-ups are all in i.e., which i never use. i don't know if that means anything or helps narrow things down.
any help or advice is more than appreciated. i've seriously never had anything like this happen to my computer, and don't know what to do.

01:11 pm - nine drawings

These 9 drawings were done by an artist under the influence of LSD -- part of a test conducted by the US government during it's dalliance with psychotomimetic drugs in the late 1950's. The artist was given a dose of LSD 25 and free access to an activity box full of crayons and pencils. His subject is the medico that jabbed him.

11:47 pm - run for cover i was just listening to joy division on the radio. the roll of ian curtis was played by brandon flowers, and the grand mal seizures were replaced with a pseudo religious cult lobotomy, but it was them, none the less.

12:51 pm - My beats-per-minute never been the same i'm so retro-tech savvy, it makes me wanna do myself in a dark alley. there are many things i was hoping to complete while on winter break. if i'd made a list, it would look like this:

write and mail christmas cardsbegin smith applicationsrepair record player in stereo consolesomething else- yet another important thing
- this too!
since i did not, in fact, make a list, you will have to simply imagine that my other success sat at the top and were duly marked off. to celebrate my bad ass record player repair job, i am rocking out to WHAM!, cause closeted 80's george micheal is a motherfucking hottie.

01:22 pm the "randy pandas" are the newest rock gods on the easy level of "guitar hero", and i am one step closer to debilitating carpel tunnel. ALSO! does anyone else familiar with this game enjoy the acid-like affect it has on your surroundings for the quarter hour after you finish? my living room swims up up up while i feel my body sink down down down. good times.

12:31 pm - hotel suggestions next weekend is the tori amos concert in oakland, and since rachel and i are going both saturday and sunday, i thought it would be easier to simply find a hotel and stay the night. i'm checking stuff out online at the moment, but if any of my bay-area friends (or travel happy folks who've stayed in the area) can suggest a reasonably priced room in the oakland/berkeley/alameda area that won't make it impossible to get to the paramount, i would really appreciate some input.
